9. Why registering is important
About this page
When registering for National Ride to Work Day we ask about your commuting habits and this information, although kept completely confidential, is collated to form reports. These assist us when communicating with key decision makers for better facilities and infrastructure for bike riders.

"Ride to Work and Beyond" Research Project
How effective is Ride to Work Day as a behaviour change event? How can we increase the proportion of new riders on Ride to Work Day? How can we encourage them to keep riding after the day is over?
The Ride to Work and Beyond! project was a three-year project undertaken by the Victorian Department of Infrastructure and Bicycle Victoria, in conjunction with the Institute of Transport Studies at Monash University, with funding from the Victorian Department of Infrastructure TravelSmart program and the Australian Government Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts.
